My homestay

So I have decided to take a few pictures of the apartment I am living in while I’m in Sevilla to give everyone an idea of my situation.

This is my room. It’s pretty big considering I don’t have to share it with anyone and there is definitely plenty of storage room. The mannequin in the corner kind of freaks me out, but I’m getting used to it. The empty picture frame above my desk just kind of confuses me (I’m going to find something to put in it). I only have one outlet in which I rotate plugging in my light, my space heater, my computer, and my phone charger. Other than that though I am pretty happy with my room.

This is a picture of the living/dining/everything room. Maria, my señora, painted all of the paintings on the wall… only half of them are finished though… I’m pretty sure anyway. Antonio always sits on the little couch when we eat and I’m always jealous of him. I always sit in the chair that is opposite of it.

This is the kitchen. Every morning Maria and Antonio make me and
my roommate Jillian coffee and then leave out toast and jam for us to eat when we finally get up. They also make us bocadillos (sandwiches) for when we have class during lunchtime. I still have not figured this out, but I’m pretty sure that they are incapable of making a decent tasting sandwich. It usually consists of plain white bread and ham… and that’s it. Usually they are gone for a walk by the time I wake up, and I immediately modify my sandwich to make it somewhat less of a joke. I think this week I’m going to have a little sandwich making session to teach them how to make one.

I was saving the best for last. This is a photo of the baby Jesus doll that Maria and Antonio put out on the table every night before they go to bed to watch over us. At first, I didn’t really pay attention and thought it was a doll that one of their grandkids left here on accident... then I realized it was there every morning in the middle of the table and he is holding a rosary. Is it not the creepiest thing ever?
